Problem
College students often face financial challenges and need a reliable platform to exchange items at affordable prices. The challenge was to build a secure, user-friendly platform that facilitates these exchanges efficiently.
Build Approach
I began by designing the platform using Figma and draw.io for wireframes and prototypes. The backend was developed using Node.js and Express.js, with MySQL for database management. The frontend was crafted using HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap, and .ejs templating for a responsive design. The application was deployed on AWS EC2, ensuring scalability and reliability. Security measures were implemented, including maps showing safe exchange locations on the SFSU campus.
Features
User Registration and Login: Users can register with their SFSU email and log in to create and manage posts.
Search and Filter: Advanced search and filtering options to find specific items quickly.
Post Management: Users can create, view, and manage their posts, including the ability to upload images and set prices.
Admin Controls: Admins can approve, manage, and delete posts to maintain quality and security.
Security Features: Integrated maps displaying SFSU police department locations and emergency phones for safe exchanges.
Design: Created using Figma and draw.io for wireframes and prototypes, ensuring a user-friendly interface.
